ST. EUSTATIUS -- Third round action of the St. Eustatius Volleyball Association regular season kicked off on Saturday. Excitement was in the air as teams jocked for position for the upcoming playoffs at the Earl N. Merkman Sports Auditorium. Play commenced in the female division between Phoenix and Serv-ivors. Phoenix took the first set (25-20.) Serv-ivors bounced back taking the second set (17-25). The third set was a hard fought, but Phoenix pulled away and won (25-22). Phoenix took the fourth set (25-13). Intense Divas took on Bomb Threats in the second game. Intense Divas jumped ahead with a 2 set lead winning (25-18) and (25-19). Bomb Threats won the third (25-27) and fourth (18-25). Intense Divas won the fifth set (15-8.) In the male division, Progressive went up against Dynamite on Tuesday. Island councilman Reuben Merkman helped coach Dynamite. Progressive won the first set (25-21). Dynamite came away with the second set (24-26) and won the third (25-20) and fourth sets (25-19.)
