BELAIR—The Annual Coors Light Half Marathon, 10K and 5K races hosted by the Divi Little Bay Resort on Sunday, May 2, saw a record number of young runners under 17 years of age from a wide representation of clubs on both sides of the island.

Results of the youth and adult categories were previously not available but have now been posted.

The Dynamics Running Club in particular, coached by Abdul Wattley, had an impressive delegation for the 5K distance with runners as young as nine years old, such as Arthur Maduro who was first in the Under 12 Pre-Junior category in a time of 27:11. This category had its own internal competition as all four entrants were from the Dynamics Club.

The 5K run was very challenging as it started with a gradual incline out of Divi Little Bay Resort and a steep short hill to the right before descending down to Great Bay and on to the Boardwalk before returning on the same route to climb up Little Bay Road and into the hotel resort before the last steep climb up to the finish on Fort Amsterdam.

Many runners were seen staggering up the last 50-metres but the youngest runners sprinted up to the finish line with energy to spare.

The most impressive 5K performance of the day came from Tri Sport Tigers Andy Guibreteau winning the Junior 13-17 category and the overall out of over 80 entrants. An avid mountain biker, he started running with the SXtreme Running Club and moved up the rankings very fast.

But hot on Andy’s heels in this category was Ejomar Brown from LAB Sport Academy in second and Carlos Brison and Macclin Sheriff, both from Dynamics, taking third and fourth places.

In other Junior results, Chardea Richardson from Dynamics Club won the Girls Under 12 category and Hanae Racon from Avenir Sportif Club won the Girls 13-17 category with Gabrielle Paulletta and Naomi Williams from Dynamics taking second and third respectively. And Adriaan Copplemans was first in the Boys 13-17 category.
