19th Annual Bob Marley’s Birthday Bash!

~ Blessings and Black History will Flow ~

Tomorrow, Friday, February 8, the blessings will flow forth at St. Rose Arcade on the Boardwalk. Ital Shack and the man himself, Ras Bushman, are bringing this event to the people of the island to honour the legacy, music and message of Bob Marley.

The greeting time is 7:00pm. That’s when you’ll hear the Zion Gate’s sound system flooding a laid back base vibe. What a way to watch the sunset! Afterwards, in the eight o’clock hour, the drummers from Generation New Status Band will perform their righteous rhythms with amped-up attitude. This band of young musicians is a long-standing point of pride for our community, as well it should be. Since its inception in 2008, Generation New Status Band has power, talent, discipline and style under the direction of Youmay Dormoy! Bob Marley would be impressed, nah.

Later on, it’s Freedom Fighters Band from the heart of the earth, singing truth and love in the style of Bob Marley, in the words of Bob Marley and with the spirit of Bob Marley. Sister Lavaughn Henri will join the mix with her amazing vocal skills like a gift to the soul – but there is more! Freedom Fighters will also be accompanied by Singer Dave from Jamaica. This is another blessing, so do find yourself there!

Roots Foundation Band is always there for Bob Marley’s Birthday Bash too! They keep pure reggae sounds alive and fresh; you will move and be moved. You’ll find munchies at the party, of course! Good and gorgeous food and beverages will be supplied by Taloula Mango’s and the vendors of St. Rose Arcade. Don’t miss this event. Those in the know know to go!
