Axum Café

Hosting Red Affair

The multi-talented Shawn J knows that absolutely nothing wonderful can be achieved without passion. And with that knowledge, he has put together what promises to be one of the best concerts of the years, slated for Saturday, January 28, in Axum Café on Front Street.

The concert is entitled “Shawn J’s Red Affair: The Passion in Me.” To match the theme, the dress cover is of course red, and the door will open at 8:00pm. The entrance fee is US $15 per person.

Shawn J has also invited some of his talented friends to lend their voices so head to the concert to experience the talent of Kenyo, Roxy and Malaike along with other special guests.

“I hope that the passion in me ignites the passion in you,” said Shawn J.

“The Passion in Me” came along while the singer/songwriter was contemplating how great of a melting pot St. Maarten/St. Martin is.

“We have extremely talented young people, who I believe have great potential but for some reason held back because of fear, brokenness or lack of support. I once lingered in that place for some part in my life, but that helped me to appreciate who I am as an artist and what I had to offer,” he said.

Shawn J: “As an award winning singer/songwriter and vocal coach, I had to decide that whatever I did, I had to do it with a passion or not at all. When you're passionate about something, you spend time on it and you do as much research as possible to improve that craft. This is what separates you from others that do whatever for fun or pleasure.”

“Most of us dream big and have goals we'd like to meet, but it'll only be a reality if you put your heart in it and with much consistency. Life is about being willing and ready to try again when you're turned down, or to fail in the process,” he added.

Passion helps you to see the bigger and brighter picture that no one else sees. It keeps you hungry for more because there's always room for improvement, the young talent said.

“Today I'm proud to say that my music has blessed many and song writing is a gift that I've grown to love and share with other artists, allowing me to gain awards and nominations which come with international recognition. Vocal coaching is one of the ways I try to give back to my community and that for me is rewarding,” Shawn J said.
