Shawn Jacquet is a home-grown songster who enjoys entertaining audiences with his golden voice and immense talent. His performing name is Shawn J – his first name and last initial.
Shawn J’s musical talent was discovered when he was quite young. One of his primary school teachers recognised that he had a great voice and urged him to belt out a verse in his school’s graduating song.
He blew his audience away with his rendition, impressing many in the crowd. His performance led to words of encouragement from the audience, teachers and fellow pupils and gave him the boost he needed to follow a path in the music industry.
Shawn J currently operates as a songwriter and vocal coach offering private training classes to other singing hopefuls. Some of the students he has helped to groom have gone on to win competitions and have even released their own singles, testimony to Shawn J’s talent and impact.
He is known in local circles for his dynamic and high range vocal ability which makes him captivate audiences. He enjoys singing live and recording studio background vocals for local and international artists.
His first debut album "Long Road," launched in 2014 together with a music video, has been nominated for the Rhythm of Gospel Awards – a top three Independent Awards Show in the United States. His Album is nominated in six categories: Urban Contemporary Male Vocalist; Producer of the Year; Youth/Young Adult Artist of the Year; Product Packaging of the Year; Inspirational/R&P Song of the Year and Best Performance by a Male Artist.
He works with Zamar Musical Productions record label and looks forward to touring the Caribbean, Europe, US and other parts of the world. Shawn's love for music grows stronger as he continues to let his passion overtake every fear that tried to keep him down. He is one of the MusikFest performers at Princess Port de Plaisance on Saturday, March 19, at 7:30-midnight.
