Sufi Night

@ News Café on Saturday

"A moment of happiness, you and I sitting on the veranda, apparently two, but one in soul, you and I. We feel the flowing water of life here, you and I, with the garden's beauty and the birds singing." ~Rumi's Love is the Water of Life.

Such lines written by the great 13th century Sufi Poet Rumi has inspired generations of musicians to make soft, soul evoking songs.

The essence of Rumi and the works he and other poets such as Hafiz, Bulleh Shah, Amir Khusrow and Khwaja Ghulam Farid have made an indelible mark on will be featured at Sufi Night, an evening of Qawwali and Ghazals, at News Café in Starz City, Cupecoy, on Saturday, June 27. Doors open at 8:00pm.

Qawwali and Ghazals are the most well-known form of Sufi music, most commonly found in the Sufi culture of the Indian subcontinent.

Soft Hindi Bollywood Music will also be played at Sufi Night by DJ Rahul. "Sufi Night is the ticket for grown folks to enjoy themselves in the venue only HD sound system on the island," said the deejay. News Café is also one of the island's first fully non-smoking venues.
