ARS announces second death  from COVID-19 in St. Martin

MARIGOT--Regional health agency ARS disclosed Monday that a second coronavirus COVID-19 patient has passed away in Guadeloupe. No new cases were reported on Monday.

  The deceased was an 80-year-old man with chronic underlying conditions. He was transferred from Louis-Constant Fleming Hospital in Marigot to the Guadeloupe University Hospital. Public Health France is investigating this latest death and attempting to identify who may have been in contact with him.

  ARS has revised its figures for St. Martin. Currently there are 13 active cases (seven in hospital and six confined to their homes). One patient was evacuated to his country of origin, two former patients recovered and two persons have died. St. Barths has five cases, all confined to their homes.

  ARS urges the population to stay at home, only go out if absolutely necessary, and to follow religiously the hygiene barrier measures.

  “We continue to call for the solidarity of everyone to apply and respect the national protection instructions.”
