Benjamin Ortega is new COCI President

PHILIPSBURG--Benjamin Ortega has been elected as the new President of the St. Maarten Chamber of Commerce and Industry (COCI).

  This will be his first time serving as president. He is a former vice-president. Ortega was elected along with the executive board during the first meeting of the new board held on Thursday, January 10. He takes over the mantle from Immediate Past President Stanley Lint.

  Also elected to the executive board were Vice-President Berteaux “Mr. Rude” Fleming; Treasurer Louis Bute, who also held the position last year; and Secretary Pamela Illis-Friday;

  Other members of the board are new members Ifelola Badejo and Jennifer Christina Carty, as well as old members Nikhil Kukreja, Charlise Philips and Curtis Thomas.

  COCI Executive Director Anastacio Baker said the new board seems to be energetic and positive, and together the team looks forward to a great year.

  Persons who left the board are Lint and member Edsel Gumbs.
