PHILIPSBURG--St. Maarten will be promoted to the travel sector in the Netherlands at several “dinner workshops” by a delegation led by St. Maarten Tourist Bureau (STB). The delegation, which includes hoteliers, headed to Europe on Sunday and will return on Friday.
The delegation is slated to meet with some 35 travel agents each evening from various travel organizations including TUI, Travel Counsellors, D-Reizen and Travel Club.
Forming part of the delegation, headed by STB Head Roland Brison, are representatives from Sonesta Resorts, The Westin St. Maarten Dawn Beach Resort and Spa, S.E.L. Maduro and Sons, Holland House Beach Hotel and Divi Little Bay Resorts.
The delegation will also meet several tour operators at the “Tour Operators Lunch” in Hoofddorp, according to a press statement from Tourism Minister Mellissa Arrindell-Doncher.
The locations for the dinner presentations are Rotterdam today, Monday, Bloemendaal Tuesday, Valburg (near Nijmegen) Wednesday and Brussels, Belgium, on Thursday.
A small market will be created at each venue where partners will have tables to provide travel agents with more information before and after the official programme.
The Bureau will showcase several promo videos about St. Maarten Carnival, St. Maarten Heineken Regatta and St. Maarten Music Festival.
“While we look to attract new airlift from Europe, we also must ensure that tour operators and the general travel sector in the Benelux market are armed with information about the destination,” the Minister said. “Brison and the Bureau team are well versed on the plans and vision for the destination as it relates to the European market,” she said.
