Cruise ships in port for crew change and provisioning

PHILIPSBURG--Cruise ships Star Pride, Wind Star and Wind Surf will be in port between Saturday, April 25, and Monday, April 27, to shift crew members as well as food and consumer supplies between the three vessels.

Star Pride will be arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico, while Wind Star will be arriving from Bridgetown, Barbados.

Wind Surf has been in port several times for provisioning since global cruise operations halted in mid-March and has spent some time anchored off Simpson Bay in international waters. The vessel was berthed at Port St. Maarten as of 9:45pm Thursday.

“All three vessels will be adhering to stringent public health conditions, as well as to the rules and regulations related to the national state of emergency … No crew disembarkation or embarkation is allowed. All crew associated with work in accordance with the presented plan should stay solely in the designated area. No crew members are allowed to exit the pier.

“All the necessary documentation must be submitted in a timely manner to relevant authorities to allow smooth transition of the required services. All health records of the crew must be provided, including the Maritime Declaration of Health to the [Health Ministry’s – Ed.] Collective Prevention Services (CPS),” said Port St. Maarten in a press release on Thursday.

The cruise vessels are all part of the Windstar Cruises fleet. Windstar Cruises operates a six-ship fleet of small luxury cruise ships.
