Custom-made:

Fire-fighters on St. Eustatius received operational training for the new fire truck last week. The new crash tender with registration CT 26-02 arrived in May. The firefighters received their training from two instructors, who travelled from Germany, where the new fire truck was manufactured.

Martin Hau of company Titan, which builds chassis for fire vehicles, said it took eight months to assemble the new crash tender. The vehicle, which was specially built for Statia’s Fire Department has a capacity of 6,000 litres per minute. It can also extinguish fires by using foam or powder. It has a 650-horsepower engine, driving at a maximum speed 115 of kilometres per hour.
