Defence Minister visits St. Eustatius

 ST.  EUSTATIUS--Dutch Minister of Defence Ank Bijleveld visited St. Eustatius on Friday, September 27. During her brief visit she met with Government Commissioner Marcolino Franco and with members of the Caribbean Netherlands Police Force KPCN and the Dutch Royal Constabulary Marechaussee.

  Minister Bijleveld arrived at Charles A. Woodley Pier on board a Dutch Navy vessel around 1:40pm.

  The purpose of her visit was to see first-hand the developments in Statia, as well as progress made in the framework of various projects being carried out under the reconstruction plan for the island.

  A visit was also paid to the St. Eustatius Emergency Operating Centre (SEOC).

  Bijleveld left Statia for St. Maarten on board a Coast Guard aircraft which departed from F.D. Roosevelt Airport at 5:00pm.
