St. Maarten Tourist Bureau (STB) is hosting journalists from the Netherlands and Belgium who are here to see the progress both sides of the island have made since Hurricane Irma.
On the tour are visits to Max Phelipa’s "Art in the Garden," Tess Verheij Art Craft Café, Rockland Eco-Park, Topper’s Rhum Distillery, a sunset sail by Aquamania, Airport, and Port St. Maarten. Tourism Minister Cornelius de Weever, STB interim head May-Ling Chun, and port and airport representatives met the visitors at a welcome dinner coupled with a performance by National Institute of Arts students. "It is imperative that the consumer markets in the Netherlands and Belgium know that there is progress being made on the island after the devastation of Hurricane Irma, and most importantly that there are ample tourism activities and hotels that are open and ready to welcome tourists again," said Chun.
