Rotary Club members in Haiti recently.
PHILIPSBURG--Four members of Rotary Club of St. Maarten-Mid Isle returned recently from the Rotary District 7020 44th Annual PETS Assembly and Conference held at the Karibe Convention Centre in Port-au-Petion-Ville, Haiti.
Incoming presidents and secretaries of all Rotary Clubs in the district had an opportunity to learn more about Rotary and to prepare for the new upcoming Rotary year, which begins on July 1.
Representing Mid Isle were President-Elect Denise Antrobus, Secretary-Elect Aernout Kraaijeveld, Rotarians David Antrobus and Louis Wever, and partner-in-service Amanda Wever
The highlight of the conference was the awards ceremony where District Governor Robert Leger rewarded the clubs for the work they had done in their respective communities during the Rotary year 2017-2018.
Rotary Club of St. Maarten-Mid Isle received six awards: The Governor’s Award – Bronze; Club of the Month Perseverance – Award C; Club of the Month – silver; the District Governor’s special award for Achievement of at least 90 per cent of members registered with the local Rotary; District Governor’s special award for Outstanding Achievement under Adversity; and the Public Image Citation Award.
Mid Isle sponsors the St. Dominic High School Interact Club and was elated to receive on its behalf the Zone 34 Interact award for being part of “Rotary Making a Difference.”
Rotary Club of St. Maarten-Mid Isle was honoured to receive these recognitions for its work in the community and thanked all the sponsors and others who have assisted it in doing well with the community and around the world.
“We would also like to thank the media for their cooperation in getting the word out about our activities, events and helping us to reach those in the local community when inviting them to participate in our activities.
