Four military instructors from Curaçao and one from Aruba received the prestigious badge, “Het Uiltje” (The Owl).
WILLEMSTAD--The Royal Navy has awarded the prestigious instructor badge, “Het Uiltje”, to four soldiers from the Caribbean – three from Curaçao and one from Aruba.
The certification signifies that these instructors are now qualified to train new recruits to become soldiers, teaching essential subjects such as Self-Help and Help to Comrades (“Zelf Hulp Kameraden Hulp” (ZHKH)), laws and legal knowledge, map and compass navigation, and shooting skills. Additionally, they are authorised to provide advanced training to professional soldiers.
This recognition underscores the vital role of well-trained instructors in the military. Their contributions are invaluable to both the Caribbean region and the Netherlands, as they play a crucial part in preparing military personnel. The collaboration between Caribbean and Dutch military forces not only enhances regional security but also fosters effective future cooperation.
Furthermore, seven instructors, including the four awarded “Het Uiltje”, have received the “ECOD Assessor” certificate, authorising them to assess military personnel officially. These certifications highlight the significant role of instructors in training new members of the Royal Navy.
