More than 200 women were screened at SMMC Women’s Health Day in 2022.
CAY HILL--St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) is set to hold its annual Women’s Health Day from 9:00am to 3:00pm Saturday, October 28, when free breast cancer screenings will be offered to women in collaboration with Positive Foundation and Elektralyets Foundation, according to a recent press release.
The free clinical breast exams will be carried out by SMMC’s medical specialists and local general practitioners, assisted by student physicians from American University of the Caribbean (AUC) Medical School. Attendees will also have access to free blood pressure and blood glucose monitoring and other health screenings.
St. Maarten AIDS Foundation will provide free HIV testing, while Social and Health Insurances SZV and Guardian Group will provide information on insurance. FLOW will offer free top-ups to the first 50 women to get screened and its sales team will be on location to provide information and services to attendees.
The event has attracted several partners, including Guardian Group, SZV, Prime Distributors, FLOW, St. Maarten AIDS Foundation, AUC, ILTT, Still Beautiful Foundation, and Positive and Elektralyets Foundations. These partners have teamed up with SMMC again to provide 100 free mammograms to uninsured women.
