Four-month-old Chainovalee Rivers was laid to rest in St. Eustatius on Sunday.
ST. EUSTATIUS--A funeral for four-month-old Chainovalee Rivers was held at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Newton Pasture on Sunday.
The baby had died at a St. Eustatius daycare centre on September 19, which sent shock waves through the community.
The Caribbean Netherlands Police Force KPCN conducted an investigation into the baby’s death, which included an autopsy. About a week later, KPCN concluded that no criminal act had led to the child’s unfortunate passing.
The funeral featured hymns, tributes and poems to celebrate the baby’s short life. The service – officiated by Pastor Timothy Leito – was also livestreamed for relatives and friends of the family who lived abroad.
The baby’s body was buried in the Berkel family cemetery. KPCN members escorted the solemn funeral procession.
