ANGUILLA--Kreative Communications Network (KCN) Chief Executive Officer and executive producer Carlton Pickering Sr. proudly celebrated and reflected on the station’s 25 years of broadcasting service to the island of Anguilla. Joined by Anguilla’s Digicel retail store supervisor Delvisia McDonough and KCN TV’s programme producer and host Rosanna Browne, Pickering reflected on the network’s past 25-year history as well as his vision for the network going forward.
McDonough said, “Digicel Anguilla is committed to being the premier cable service broadcaster in Anguilla and we are thrilled that KCN has been a committed partner for the past 25 years. KCN has been integral in broadcasting local programming and keeping Anguilla’s culture at the forefront. The network has served as a steppingstone for many of Anguilla’s TV and media personalities through the creation of local programming, bringing news, hot topics and world class entertainment to our homes.” She congratulated him on his dedication and hard work over the past 25 years and stressed that they look forward to even more exciting programming in the future.
Reflecting on the passage of 25 years with KCN, Browne said, “It seems like yesterday that KCN started. Although we are in the digital age, television still has its place and niche in the marketplace – just like radio and print media do. We simply have to adapt to the changing times.” She said that is exactly what KCN intends to do as it goes digital in the near future. Browne said she would become more active with the upcoming Rebranded Anguilla Diary Magazine and other upcoming programmes.
Pickering thanked Digicel for its support over the years. He said, “The journey has been long; the journey at times has had its pains, but also its triumphs.” He acknowledged and thanked Browne for her support of him over the years, saying it was she who, as the face of KCN, had hosted many timely and relevant productions. He thanked the Caribbean Broadcasting Union for its assistance with training, which was instrumental in KCN’s development.
Pickering announced that the network will sponsor a KCN-related quiz competition open to the entire island, starting in October and continuing through November, with valuable prizes for the winners. Detailed information concerning photo, short story and video competitions in December will be released in the near future.
Nat Hodge of The Anguillian Newspaper and Ivor Hodge, recently retired from Radio Anguilla, both congratulated Pickering and praised him for his steady service within the Anguilla media community.
