Large turnout for annual father-daughter dance

CAY HILL--Learning Unlimited (LU) School hosted its second annual Kings and Princesses (daddies and daughters) Dance on Friday. Under the theme colours of lavender and silver, the LU gymnasium was transformed into an elegant and fun-filled ballroom for the Kings and Princesses of LU's primary school.

The idea of the dance was to have the girls attend with their role models, cementing their special bond. Girls came with their fathers, stepfathers, families and friends, all formally dressed for the occasion.

Guests were welcomed with a glass of sparkling cider, while tasty treats and drinks were enjoyed all evening. Watching the fathers take part in the hula-hoop competition, musical chairs and other activities was quite entertaining, as their Princesses cheered from the side-lines.

There were many other games and competitions among the Kings and Princesses that provided much laughter, fun and bonding. Prizes were given to the Kings and Princesses who won various competitions during the night. The fathers’ participation and enthusiasm during the evening was commendable, as they mingled and marvelled over their special moments with their Princesses.

The Kings held on to their Princesses as they slow danced to the popular song, "Dance with my Father" by the late Luther Vandross. The Kings and Princesses Dance provided an opportunity for dads to spend some quality time bonding with their daughters, with much encouragement from the school.

Whether dancing to that one special song, munching on some hors d'oeuvres, posing for a photograph, or just socialising, the evening sparked many memories that both fathers and daughters alike will never forget. Like the quote says, “A father holds his daughter’s hand for a short while, but holds her heart forever.”
