PHILIPSBURG--Radio station Laser 101’s storm team will be hosting a special two-hour programme today, Thursday, live on the airwaves from 7:00 to 9:00pm. “St. Maarten are we ready?” is the name of the broadcast hosted by Glen and Jennifer Carty.

Prime Minister Leona Romeo-Marlin, Disaster Management Coordinator/Fire Chief Clive Richardson and Meteorological Department head Joseph Isaac are set to be on the special guest panel for the hurricane awareness programme.

The programme will be one of many informational programmes that will focus on specific topics related to hurricane preparedness.

The Laser 101 storm team has been active since 1995 and the station was able to get back on-air shortly after Hurricane Irma hit the island in September last year. The team was one of the only means of communication to residents and emergency services on the island before some of the main communication lines were restored.

People are encouraged to listen to their radios at 7:00pm and hear the experts talk hurricane preparedness one day before June 1, the official start of the 2018 Atlantic hurricane season.
