Maho Group renews CLA for employees

PHILIPSBURG-- Maho Group and Windward Islands Civil Servants Union/Private Sector Union (WICSU-PSU) re-signed the collective labour agreement (CLA) for all of the Maho hotel properties’ staff and Casino Royale employees on Thursday morning for one year.
“This is a very important day for every one of us,” said the Maho Group’s President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Saro Spadaro, who signed on behalf Maho Group. “Our employees are our family, and we treat them as such.

"We’ve done our best to support them, and continue to do so as best as we can. With the renewed agreement, the CLA will run until the end of May 2019, at which point we will work closely with WICSU to discuss a further extension, hopefully in a very different economic climate."
The employees are represented by WICSU/PSU. The parties have agreed to discuss another year extension for 2019 and to look at the situation of the property and re-evaluate the CLA in 2020. WICSU actively worked very closely with the Maho Group following Hurricane Irma to care for its employees and protect their rights and benefits.
After the passing of Hurricane Irma, the Maho Group helped support its employees financially to the best of its ability. Maho is also the founding member of and main contributor to the Hospitality First Training programme to ensure all employees have the opportunity to improve their skills and learn new ones.
The workers thanked Maho for its cooperation and look forward to the properties fully reopening later this year.
Outgoing WICSU/PSU President Julia Solognier signed on behalf of the 400-plus workers.
