Man shot in Cole Bay, but checks in to French-side ER

COLE BAY--Police are investigating the shooting of a man on Union Road in the vicinity of the Pet Shop on Tuesday evening, June 19. Police patrols were directed to the scene to investigate what had taken place, but did not locate anyone on the scene.

According to Thursday’s police report, shortly afterward the 911 dispatch received a call from French authorities informing them that a man had reported to Louis Constant Fleming Medical Centre on the French side and had told them he was shot on the Dutch side. The Forensic Department went on the scene to collect this evidence.
The victim is in stable condition and has been admitted to the hospital for further treatment and observation. The suspect(s) responsible and the reason for this shooting are still unknown.
