MARIGOT--A medal ceremony for Gendarmes was held at the barracks in La Savane on Tuesday, March 28, in the presence of the head of the Gendarmerie in Guadeloupe and the Northern Islands, General Vincent Lamballe, and Préfet Vincent Berton.
Three Gendarmes were awarded the Silver Medal of Internal Security for “Acts of Courage and Devotion”, presented by Préfet Berton. Three other Gendarmes received Order of the Brigade citations from General Lamballe, including the National Gold Medal with Bronze Star.
Twelve other Gendarmes received letters of congratulation for their work from the Ministry of the Interior.
In his address, Préfet Berton reiterated his unwavering support for the Gendarmerie, praising the commitment of the personnel and quality of work carried out on both islands. He particularly noted the courage of the security forces, exercised on a daily basis in the service of the populations of St. Martin and St. Barths.
