THE HAGUE--The Kingdom Council of Ministers has approved the appointments of six new judges for the Joint Court of Justice of Aruba, Curaçao, St. Maarten and of Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba as of August 1, 2020.
The new judges, - all men – were appointed on the recommendation of Minister of Legal Protection Sander Dekker, also on behalf of his colleagues at the Ministries of Justice in Aruba, Curaçao and St. Maarten.
Curaçao will be welcoming five new judges: G.P. Verbeek who will be a criminal judge in first-instance cases, R. Veldhuisen who will be handling criminal appeal cases, O. Nijhuis who will be hearing civil appeal cases, and W.H. Bel who will be handling administrative cases in the Court of First Instance and appeals in civil-service cases. Also appointed was judge of instruction in criminal cases M.R.J. van Wel.
J.A. van Voorthuizen will be a judge at the Joint Court’s branch in Bonaire, which also serves as the court for St. Eustatius and Saba.
