ANGUILLA--A pinning ceremony was held at Government House, on Thursday, July 20, for new members of the National Youth Ambassador Corps (NYAC) and the Anguilla National Youth Council (ANYC). Acting Governor Paul Candler, Minister of Social Development and Education, Dee-Ann Kentish Rogers, Permanent Secretary Bonnie Richardson-Lake and officials from the Department of Youth and Culture were in attendance.
Candler offered congratulations, saying, “A culture which values youth participation in public policy decision-making sets a strong foundation for a resilient and robust future. It is inspiring to hear about the passion which fuels the National Youth Ambassadors and the Anguilla National Youth Council and I offer you my sincere congratulations as you take on these vitally important roles.”
The National Youth Ambassadors Corps comprises leaders who represent the voice of young people, have strong communication, research and advocacy skills and work to understand and shape Anguilla’s youth development landscape within a regional and global context. The Anguilla National Youth Council is an umbrella organisation established as a national body to protect the interests of all youth, youth groups and affiliated organisations and to advance and promote the general welfare and social progress of not only the youth, but also the people of Anguilla.
