PHILIPSBURG--Minister of Public Health, Social Development and Labour VSA Richard Panneflek is expected to provide Members of Parliament (MPs) with information on the state of affairs as it relates to “mass illegal dismissals” in the country stemming from the coronavirus COVID-19 crisis, during an urgent public session of Parliament sent for 11:00am today, Thursday.
Panneflek is also expected to provide elucidation on the food packages government has so far distributed to residents.
The meeting was requested by United St. Maarten Party (US Party) MPs Claudius “Toontje” Buncamper and Akeem Arrindell, Party For Progress MPs Melissa Gumbs and Raeyhon Peterson and National Alliance MP Christophe Emmanuel.
Due to measures taken to mitigate COVID-19, the House of Parliament is currently closed to the public until further notice. The parliamentary session will be held virtually and will be carried live on St. Maarten Cable TV Channel 115, 107.9FM, 98.1FM,
