PHILIPSBURG--Police are again urging the owners of almost 100 confiscated scooters and motorcycles to collect their vehicles at the Philipsburg police station before the end of January. Officials say this is the last warning before the bikes are destroyed.
Police have issued several notices to bike owners over the past six months to collect their impounded rides. However, very few have so far turned up to retrieve their vehicles.
The scooters and motorcycles that can be retrieved are those that were confiscated because of small legal infractions, such as being used without valid insurance or having technical issues. Bikes seized for investigation into criminal offences can only be returned on the orders of the Prosecutor’s Office.
Owners can take home their confiscated bikes by turning up at the police station with a valid identification document (ID card, passport, or driver’s licence), a valid inspection card, as well as proof of insurance and legal ownership. These documents must be shown before the impounded vehicle is returned.
