Police make headquarters more customer-friendly

PHILIPSBURG--Community Police Officer (CPO) Inspector Felix Richards came up with an idea to make the police headquarters more approachable for persons who visit the headquarters.

Richards and a number of corporate sponsors came together in 2016 and launched the project called “Customer Friendly Upgrade.” The police station front office was upgraded with two private offices where persons can file complaints and speak to officers in a private space.

Minister of Justice Rafael Boasman and several guests were present during a short ceremony at the police station. Boasman commended the Police Force for taking the initiative and also thanked sponsors for assisting the police with the upgrades.

Police spokesman Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson served as master of ceremonies and introduced CPO Richards, who gave a brief history of how he had come up with the idea to change the look of the station.

NAGICO Insurances Marketing Manager Lisa Brown said the police had approached NAGICO for assistance several years ago with the goal of teaching officers customer-service skills. Several years later, the company continues to support the CPOs with projects they initiated.

The first phase of this project is now completed. As part of the upgrades, police revealed a mural with contact information of all Community Police Officers.

Police Chief Carl John said the Police Force is working towards providing complete safety and he hopes that with the continued investment in the Police Force, the police will be able to combat crime with all resources at their disposal.
