This Afternoon through Friday midday: East to east-southeast with a gentle to moderate breeze of 09 to 18 mph.
SYNOPSIS:
A weakened Atlantic high pressure ridge will maintain a gentle to moderate wind flow across the region. Meanwhile, the presence of an upper level low north of the area, in addition to a low level trough approaching from the east, will increase instability toward the latter part of this forecast period.
A High Surf Advisory remains in effect for St. Maarten until this evening as long period northerly swells continue to invade local waters. Seas will peak near 7 feet during the next few days. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution.
STATE OF THE SEA: Slight to Moderate WAVES/SWELLS: 4 to 7 feet
SPECIAL FEATURE:
An area of disturbed weather associated with a trough of low pressure is located over the northwestern Caribbean Sea. This system is forecast to move slowly northward across Cuba and the Straits for Florida during the next day or so.
This system does not pose a threat to St. Maarten.
