POND ISLAND--The Ministry of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure VROMI will assess all damaged structures on the Dutch side to identify uninhabitable structures and those deemed damaged beyond repair. All structures deemed a danger and damaged beyond repair will be marked for demolition.
The assessments will be executed by the Inspection and Permits Department. The group will be split into teams of specialised inspectors.
A building stop is in effect for all construction activities without a valid permit. The public is reminded by the Ministry that building or making changes to a building without an approved building permit is in violation of Article 7 of the Building Ordinance.
Home and/or property owners planning repairs or rebuilding are requested to report to the Inspection and Permits Department housed in Government Building on Pond Island to fill out a building permit request form Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:00pm.
