PHILIPSBURG--Utilities Company NV GEBE has extended its electricity relief programme for senior citizens to the end of the year, the company announced in a press release on Thursday.
The programme targets seniors ages 62 and over. The programme, which will now continue until December 21, will resume on February 8 and is open to new applicants.
Persons who are currently registered in the programme will see a relief in their bills for February 2016, however, they are required to submit a proof of life document (attestatie de vita); valid identification and a contract account number, GEBE said in a press release on Thursday. These documents should be submitted to GEBE before February 23, for the relief to be applied.
GEBE said it is “very important” for persons who are currently enrolled in the 62 plus Senior Citizen Electricity Relief programme to comply with the required information and deadline in order for their applications to be re-processed. Failure to submit the requested information before the deadline will exclude that senior citizen from the 2016 electricity relief programme, GEBE said.
New applicants can apply for the programme as of February 8 and have until February 23 to complete the registration form to be eligible. Forms for the relief programme can be collected at the receptionist at GEBE’s main office from 7:30am to 3:00pm. GEBE also indicated that the amount of relief that each senior citizen will receive will be determined after all applications are processed in March.
