CAY HILL--American University of the Caribbean (AUC) School of Medicine students recently donated an undisclosed amount of money to St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) to help purchase equipment for SMMC’s Emergency Room (ER).
AUC student Heather Langner, representing her graduating class, contacted the hospital to make the contribution towards the purchase of equipment for the ER, as a token of appreciation.
“The September 2017 Class at the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine is honoured to present SMMC Emergency Department with this donation. SMMC has been an amazing part of our education, providing doctors for our clinical medicine courses, nurses for our CPR [cardiopulmonary resuscitation – Ed.] course, and a hospital setting for us to learn to be doctors. Thank you for being such a crucial part of our medical education,” Langner said.
The donation was used towards the purchase of a new mobile patient monitor for the ER department.
SMMC said in a press release that donations are always appreciated. Persons who would like to contribute to SMMC can learn more about the hospital’s donation programme via its website
