ST. EUSTATIUS--The new air-traffic control tower at F.D. Roosevelt Airport in St. Eustatius is now operational. The transition was completed on Tuesday, June 1, and operations started successfully as of Wednesday, June 2.
“The tower transition is a monumental achievement for the island of St. Eustatius. With the tower transition completed and the new terminal building [to be finished – Ed.] shortly, the entire island of St. Eustatius has taken one gigantic leap into the future, a bright and hopeful future that brings with it inspiration, innovation and progress for this beautiful island,” said airport manager Darren Wilson.
He also said the tower staff had been “very instrumental” in assisting with the transition. “They have also contributed new and fresh ideas to the work environment. Their hard work, determination and effort have not gone unnoticed.”
