STENAPA staff members and volunteers at Miriam C. Schmidt Botanical Garden.
ST. EUSTATIUS--St. Eustatius National Parks Foundation STENAPA has been busy recently with the maintenance of Miriam C. Schmidt Botanical Garden.
The garden needs to be ship-shape for World Whale Day, Sunday, February 20, when the nature organisation will be hosting a fun day for the community.
STENAPA staff members and volunteers recently started clearing debris, fallen rocks, and leaves and mowing grass. They are also planning the planting of new saplings and seedlings grown at ReforeStatia.
The telescope on the premises has been repaired, so that people can not only have a closer look at St. Kitts, but also watch whales passing by. Whale sightings have been on the uptick recently around Statia and in the region.
The botanical garden will be open for whale watching from 2:00pm to 5:00pm on World Whale Day, Sunday, February 20. There will also be games, information booths and sighting workshops.
