Winair plane at PJIA
ST. EUSTATIUS--The Ministry of Home Affairs concluded an agreement with Windward Islands Airways International Winair for a temporary flight connection between St. Eustatius and Bonaire.
Many regular flight connections in the area were cancelled due to the COVID-19 measures. As a result, the Leeward Islands are poorly connected to the outside world, it was stated in a press release. “That is why, to guarantee connectivity in the Caribbean Netherlands, a temporary flight is set up between St. Eustatius and Bonaire.”
The flight will be operated by Winair and will be scheduled every Tuesday from December 1. The airplane, with a capacity of 40 people, will depart St. Eustatius at 9:15am and Bonaire at 12:00pm. The flight will take about two hours.
Saba and St. Eustatius are mutually connected according to Winair’s regular flight schedule. This way, all islands in the Caribbean Netherlands will be connected.
Travellers must comply with the entry requirements that are applicable on the islands.
The Ministry of Home Affairs emphasises that this is a temporary solution to assist residents, e.g. students, business travellers, and people who visit the islands for family matters. The situation will be evaluated every two weeks and it will then be determined whether the flights will be continued.
