At 5:00pm on Wednesday the centre of Tropical Storm Fiona was located near latitude 15.1 North, longitude 37.8 West. Fiona was moving toward the northwest near 16 mph (26 km/h). A motion toward the northwest or west-northwest with some decrease in forward speed was expected during the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds had increased to near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Some additional strengthening was forecast during the next 48 hours. Tropical-storm-force winds extended outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the centre. The estimated minimum central pressure was 1006 mb (29.71 inches).
