Tzu Chi cleans home of wheelchair-bound man

PHILIPSBURG--St. Maarten Tzu Chi Foundation continued to spread seeds of love in the community when sixteen of its volunteers cleaned the hurricane-ravaged home of wheelchair-bound Fort Willem resident Winston Flanders recently.

The home was transformed by the cleaning into a cosy, spic-and-span place of abode. Flanders had encountered challenging times for an entire year and was truly happy with the assistance from Tzu Chi, as no one, including family members, had been willing to assist him, it was stated in a press release on Thursday.

He was grateful for the foundation’s assistance. Flanders deeply appreciated the gesture from Tzu Chi and thanked the volunteers for their kindness. And Tzu Chi thanked its volunteers as well as the three family members and neighbours whom it encouraged to assist in the cleaning. Tzu Chi also thanked Meadowlands, which assisted in carting off the debris after the cleaning exercise.
