HAMILTON, Bermuda--Hamilton Princess and Beach Club unveiled its show-stopping gingerbread house, on Thursday, December 7, displayed as part of its Christmas décor in the lobby of the hotel.
This year’s gingerbread house, large enough for children to step inside, is the centrepiece of the resort’s festive decorations. It is 6 feet (ft) by 5ft and 6.5ft tall and has been created by Executive Chef Ricardo Cera and a team of six pastry chefs at the resort, with additional support from the engineering team.
The huge gingerbread structure was made with 350 pounds (lb) of gingerbread dough and contains 120lb of icing sugar. The gingerbread has been made with a classic recipe which includes sugar, flour, eggs, shortening, sugar cane molasses and a secret blend of spices.
The seasonal spectacle took the Hamilton Princess and Beach Club chefs 120 hours of teamwork, from baking through to putting on the finishing touches.
The gingerbread house will be displayed in the lobby of the resort until January 2.
Executive Chef Cera said: “We are proud to unveil Hamilton Princess and Beach’s Club biggest gingerbread house to date.
“The gingerbread house is designed to celebrate the Christmas season and impress visitors to the hotel – particularly children who will be able to step inside. We welcome the public to stop by and see our work during the holidays.” ~ Bernews ~
