FLORIDA--A Jamaican woman was arrested at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport after almost three pounds of cocaine were discovered in her bra.
United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers found the cocaine inside the unnamed woman’s bra after noticing abnormalities during an inspection. The drugs weighed 2.7 pounds.
“This is another excellent example of our CBP officers’ expertise in preventing dangerous drugs from entering the United States,” said Fort Lauderdale International Airport port director Jorge Roig. “CBP officers demonstrate vigilance, integrity and professionalism on a daily basis.”
CBP Office of Field Operations is the primary organisation within Homeland Security tasked with an anti-terrorism mission at US ports. CBP officers screen all people, vehicles and goods entering the United States while facilitating the flow of legitimate trade and travel.
Their mission also includes carrying out border-related duties, including narcotics interdiction, enforcing immigration and trade laws, and protecting the nation’s food supply and agriculture industry from pests and diseases.
