MIAMI, Florida--The US National Hurricane Center (NHC) said it is monitoring a weather system which has formed north of the Caribbean region.
In an update shared at 7:30pm on Tuesday, the NHC said the area of low pressure was expected to develop by this weekend.
Its report for the North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico reads:
“Special Tropical Weather Outlook issued to discuss the potential for subtropical development this weekend northeast of the Bahamas.
“A broad area of low pressure is expected to develop late this week or early this weekend a couple of hundred miles north of the Bahamas. Environmental conditions appear conducive for gradual development of this system, and a subtropical depression or storm is likely to form this weekend while it moves north-eastward over the western Atlantic.
“The next Special Tropical Weather Outlook on this system will be issued by 9:00am Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) Wednesday, or earlier, if necessary.”
The formation chance through 48 hours was described as low, near 0 per cent, and through five days, high – 70 per cent. ~ Loop Jamaica ~
