ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada--Emmalin Pierre, newly declared leader of the New National Party (NNP), said that the priority for her and the new executive elected during the December 15, 2024, convention is to strengthen the foundation of the party. She presented a five-point agenda for the way forward, to the delegates in her maiden address as political leader.

“Our priority is to strengthen the very foundation of our party as we prepare for the bigger mandate to lead this country forward. I, therefore, share with you briefly my five-point agenda for the strengthening, empowering and modernising of the NNP as we prepare to win the next general election,” she told the delegates.

The plan, Pierre said, will focus on: empowering and expanding party membership; preserving and upholding the party’s core values; modernising organisational structures and systems; ensuring financial stability, fostering unity; and building strategic alliances.

Elaborating on the empowering and expanding of the party’s membership, Pierre said, “As we embark, tell the delegates that both the executive and the delegates must ensure that all the organs of the party are fully functional and that at all levels members receive the necessary opportunities for development, and basic support necessary for success.”

She added, “If the organs of the party are strong and working well, then the party will remain strong and resilient, able to respond effectively to the needs of our people, while remaining steadfast in its mission of service.”

“We must immediately expand our programme to get on the ground, meeting with our supporters, including those who for whatever reason may have strayed away from us,” she told the delegates who applauded her announcement.

Speaking about the financial stability of the party, Pierre, who formerly served as the Public Relations Officer, told over 250 delegates that a strong financial foundation is essential for the sustainability of the party’s initiatives. “We will immediately implement strategies to ensure financial stability, including robust fundraising efforts and prudent financial management, so we can continue to serve our people effectively.” ~ Now Grenada ~
