Close to 230 take part in 4th Saint-Martinoise

MARIGOT—Around 230 young women participated in Avenir Sportif Club’s 4th Annual Saint Martinoise 5K Run in Marigot on Saturday, March 12, despite overcast weather and light rain which organisers said prevented more women from taking part.


  In the Individual category (Over 40) it was Claudine Patini Mellot, a runner from Martinique, who clocked the fastest time of the day in 21:06 to win overall and the category. Sarah Celestine was second (23:19) and Aline Chauvin third (23:55).
  The Under 40 category was won by Deborah Pierrois in 23:46, Celine Verdonck was second (24:33), and Sara Coupillet third (25:32).
  The mother and daughter race was won by Team B2H (Rajani Perrichot and Christelle Perrichot) in 27:19. Paola SXM (Paola Londono and Mayerly Alvarez) took second place in 28:21 and Team Chicks (Joy Moret and Christelle Moret) finished in third (30:37).
  The Under 18 Walk was won by Lisa Coquillas (36:24) and the Over 18 category by Rubia Sutton (37:47).
  Prior to the start of the race, a warm-up was led by Caroline from SXM Fitness.
  All finishers received medals and a certificate of completion. Trophies were presented by President Aline Hanson, First Vice-President Guillaume Arnell and Territorial Councillor for Sports, Alain Gros-Desormeaux.
  Participants were treated to an African Soca Dance session by choreographer Deyon while waiting for the results to be tallied. Some 30 persons also won prizes in the raffle.
