Curaçao soccer team must wait

WILLEMSTAD--If Curaçao's national soccer team continues to the next round of the Caribbean Cup will become clear tonight.

Last Saturday, the side coached by Patrick Kluivert team won 2-1 against the Dominican Republic. It regards a group of three countries out of which two qualify and every match must have a winner, so penalties are taken in case of a tie.

Curaçao can now do nothing more than wait for the match of Barbados against and in the Dominican Republic today, Tuesday. If Barbados wins Curaçao moves on.

Even if Barbados loses 1-0 Curaçao still goes through as all three squads will be equal in points, but Curaçao and the Dominican Republic with a goal average of 2-2, which would beat Barbados’ 1-1 on the most goals scored rule. Should Barbados lose 2-1, all three will be completely tied.

Last Saturday with 67 minutes played, Curaçao scored its first goal. A few minutes later the Dominicano team also scored, but eight minutes before the end of the match Curaçao scored its second, winning goal.
