Cycling Club hosts relay race Saturday

PHILIPSBURG—The St. Maarten St. Martin Cycling Club will host a 100 lap relay race September 26. The First Soualiga Bicycle Relay Race is set to begin at 6:00pm from Festival Village and finish at midnight Saturday.


Teams will consist of five riders. There will be a youth rider under age 12, a cadet age 13 to 16, a woman a senior and a master.
The Under 12 riders will race for five laps. The cadets are scheduled for 10 laps and the remaining riders will do 15. Each lap is one km. The lap starts on Pond Island by the University, goes to the Salt Pickers Roundabout back to the landfill entrance and finishes back at the University.
After completing the required laps the rider will pass a light stick to their teammate.
