Fast and Furious 2 handy warm-up for Caribbean Cycling Championship

SIMPSON BAY--Sunday’s 2 Fast 2 Furious cycling race organised by SXM Sports Evasion and Hott Spurs Football Association provided a convenient warm-up for the Caribbean Cycling Championships coming up in Guadeloupe. Nicole Erato and Adelio Brooks are two who will be representing St. Maarten. St. Barths top triathlete Fabien Husson was also invited to race on Sunday and no surprise to see that he won the Seniors open category. The course was a complete loop around Simpson Bay, Cole Bay, Union Road, Causeway Bridge and the two roundabouts. Seniors (under 44) were required to do 20 laps (63K) which was reduced to 15 as the police permit expired at 11:30am. Masters (over 44) did 12 laps. In the seniors category it was Fabien Husson first, Adelio Hodge (Hot Wheels) second and Orlan Gumbs (ASM) third. Masters was won by “Papi” Richardson (Hot Wheels), second Niel Comenencia (Hot Wheels) and third Mark Maidwell. Winners won cash prizes and weekend stays. The race was made possible by Belair Beach Hotel, L’Atmosphere Guest House (Anguilla), Best Buy Gas Station French Quarter, Atrium Hotel, Sol Petroleum, KFC, Julimar, Fantastic Hotel, Oyster Bay Beach Resort, Kevin’s Barber Shop, NAPA, Accessible Ventures, and Lamigeot’s Market.
