3rd Edition of the St. Maarten Marathon set for December 8th, 2024.

LITTLE BAY--The breathtaking island of St. Maarten is gearing up to host the 3rd Annual St. Maarten Marathon on December 8th, 2024, starting at Divi Little Bay Beach Resort and finishing at historic Fort Amsterdam. The marathon stands out for its beautiful route, which passes through stunning landscapes, and offers significant elevation, making it an unforgettable and challenging experience for competitive athletes and just-for-fun runners alike.

The 2023 marathon drew an impressive international crowd of over 200 participants. Last year's men’s title was won by Gregory Pigeon from Saint-Martin with a time of 3 hours, 14 minutes, and 27 seconds. He had an iconic neck and neck battle with the 2nd place finisher, Dick Janssen. The 2023 women’s title went to Maria Karabova from Slovakia with a time of 4 hours, 16 minutes, and 17 seconds. Maria arrived a day before the race as a crewmember of a yacht docked in Philipsburg harbor and decided to take on the challenge and finished as the first female at Fort Amsterdam. The official marathon records are held by British runner Ashley Mansfield with 3.00.27 in 2022 and Dutch female runner Florentine Paanakker, 3.43.10 also in 2022.

To accommodate seasoned athletes and amateur runners alike, this event offers 4 different races: A full marathon of 42.2 km, (with 500+ meters of elevation), a half marathon of 21.1 km (with 300+ meters of elevation), a 10 km run, and a 5 km run, each sponsored by another amazing local organization.
