Guardian Group Fall Swimming Invitational boasts fast early season performances

COLE BAY--Guardian Group once again sponsored Carib Swim Team’s annual Fall Invitational Swim Meet. Dolphins Swim Team and Super Splash Swim Team also attended, as this was the first island wide swim meet of the 2022/2023 season.


Very good early season times were posted by swimmers from all three teams. Carib Swim Team was highlighted by nine new team records, along with a ton of newly met time standards.
Matias Piazza achieved new team records for both his age (14 years), as well as the Senior team record (all ages) for his 200 IM (2:25.42) and 400 IM (5:09.63). Joey Schvartz swam his way to four new team records for his age (12 years), with a 1:00.46 100 free, 4:36.78 400 free, 2:26.13 200 backstroke, and 5:09.84 400 IM. Finally Saphir Thomas (13 years) swam her new team record of 10:25.34 in 800 free.
New ‘B’ times were achieved by Caithlyn Challenger (100 free, 200 free and 100 butterfly), Darina Smirnova (100 butterfly), Sacha Tobias (50 free), Julia Vriezan (50 and 100 breaststroke), Simon Creusot (100, 200, and 400 freestyle), Daan Vinke (200 free and 200 backstroke), Luuk Vinke (100 butterfly), and Pepijn Vriezen (100 free and 50 breast).
CST swimmers set a lot of new ‘BB’ times. They were Aiyana Bourne (400 free, 100 breast, and 200 breast), Gigi Cai (100 butterfly), Caithlyn Challenger (50 back and 100 breast), Arianna Lont (200 IM), Darina Smirnova (200 free and 50 back), and Daan Vinke (800 free).
Nicolas Piazza set two new ‘A’ times in 100 and 200 breaststroke.
New ‘AA’ times were picked up by Matias Piazza (400 IM), and Joey Schvartz (100 butterfly). Finally, Joey achieved two new ‘AAA’ times in 100 free and 200 backstroke.
Other event winners include: Shaniqua Schladt (CST), Nigel Fontenelle (DST), Peliaiah Janssen (DST), Charlotte Challenger (CST), Keianna Richardson (DST), Anderson Wang (CST), Philip Chang Sing Pang (CST), Miguel Febrres-Gonzalez (SSST), Adaya Bourne (CST), Jai Shahani (SSST), Tye Hartgers (SSST), Xam Hartgers (SSST), J’Aishaa Jeffers (DST), Kimaia Stephen (CST), Lennox Van Kooten (CST), Teon Papaso (DST), Yuyu Cai (CST), Tavare Green (CST), and Harrison Radican (CST).
Carib Swim Team’s next hosted meet is the Holiday Bash, on December 3-4th. However, many CST swimmers will take part in the November 14th Harbor to Pier open water swim.
