PHILIPSBURG-- The National Sports Institute, Department of Sport and the Sint Maarten Sport Federation launched a second initiative within the “Heroes of the Fields” campaign to honor Sint Maarten’s most talented sporting heroes.
This initiative celebrates athletes from football, baseball/softball, athletics, swimming, and netball, including two exceptional athletes from the Special Olympics.
The campaign features light pole banners strategically placed at key sports venues across the island, including the Raoul Illidge Sports Complex, the John Cooper Jose Lake Ballpark, and the St. Peter’s Community Court. These banners not only honor individual athletes but also instill national pride by prominently displaying the Sint Maarten flag and the slogan “Team Sint Maarten.”
This is the second initiative under the “Heroes of the Fields” campaign. In August, a mural featuring top National athletes was unveiled at the Raoul Illidge Sports Complex in collaboration with Kooyman’s “Colours of the Caribbean” mural project. Together, these efforts aim to celebrate Sint Maarten’s talented athletes and inspire the current and next generation of athletes.
The Sint Maarten Football Federation co-sponsored this project.
The National Sports Institute, together with the Department of Sports and the Sint Maarten Sports Federation, will continue to launch more initiatives under the “Heroes of the Fields” campaign to celebrate athletes and foster community pride through sports.
