Leveret goes long to set career high RBI record

TEXAS--Professional baseball player Rene Leveret of South Reward hit his 12 home run of the season. Playing for the Amarillo Thunderheads in Texas, the four-bagger gave the 6-foot-2, 280-pound first baseman a career high 73 Runs Batted In for the season.

Leveret who moved from the Quebec Capitals in the Canadian American League at the start of the season has played in 99 games. He has 369 at bats and has scored 47 runs. He has 107 hits and is batting .290 with 27 walks and 59 strike outs.

Leveret signed with the Twins in 2003 just a few months before his 18th birthday. In his years of playing he has won a handful of championship rings, been named most valuable player and more recently has started running baseball clinics on St. Maarten for young players in the off season.
