St. Maarten Roadrunners President Krispijn Teunissen (no.18) runs alongside Marcel de Wit during the St. Barths half marathon.
MARIGOT—Runners from St. Maarten and St. Martin represented the island well at the St. Barths half marathon organised by the St. Barths Triathlon Association on Sunday, February 20, producing good results.
The race was won this year by Dimitri Dubreucq in 1:14:43. A huge field of 166 runners were on the start line with five not finishing the race.
A scan of the results showed that Intergeneration runner Wilfred Sully was the highest placed runner from St. Martin, finishing in 16th place. Murielle Lancien Paule, also from St. Martin, finished in 35th place.
There was a good representation from five St. Maarten Roadrunners. “We all broke some personal records” noted Roadrunners President Krispijn Teunissen who finished in 37th place in 1:41:02. “Janneke Lok made it onto the podium with a second place in her age group and Marcel de Wit was nine minutes faster than last year. Yvette de Graaf and Frits Bus also ran the 21K.”
Runners from SXM Tri Academie also took part with Nicolas Doublecourt finishing in 41st place (1:41:36).
